Second Home Hosting was founded in 2022 by Lina Yi, a former Tesla and Apple engineer who saw an opportunity to bring systems thinking and operational excellence to the corporate housing industry.
After years of optimizing complex systems in the tech industry, Lina recognized that Central Texas was experiencing rapid growth driven by major employers like Meta, massive construction projects, and expanding medical centers. Yet there was a gap in the market for professional, reliable corporate housing that could serve extended-stay guests while delivering consistent returns for property owners.
Today, we manage 115 properties across 14 Central Texas cities, maintaining a 72% average occupancy rate through data-driven pricing, systematic guest screening, and meticulous property care. Our approach combines the precision of engineering with the warmth of hospitality.

Why Lina Left Big Tech to Build This

After her first year at Apple, Lina started asking herself difficult questions: Is this what I want my life to look like in 20 years? Is this the purpose of my time on earth?
That inner question didn't come from crisis—it came from growth. She was becoming someone who wanted more than 'a good job.' She wanted a mission.
The Tool That Started It All
While working her day job, Lina became deeply interested in wealth building, especially real estate. She read and listened to everything she could—Rich Dad Poor Dad was one of the early turning points. She started analyzing listings every day, calculating rents, returns, and cash flow.
Because she's a builder by nature, she turned that process into a tool: she created a small Chrome plugin to speed up real estate deal analysis. Seeing people use something she made—and genuinely benefit from it—lit her up in a way her job never did.

Today's Chapter
Right now, Lina's chapter is about improving and scaling from 1 to 10—system by system, step by step. That's true in business, and it's also true in our rental portfolio and personal life.
